  The Follow A Dream Team

Harry "Jay" BlakeJay Blake-Crew Chief

Jay Blake is founder and president of Follow A Dream, and the only totally blind crew chief in the worldwide sport of auto racing. He has more than 15 years experience as a professional auto mechanic and more than 25 years in drag racing. Jay is responsible for the organization’s management, operations and community outreach programs, as well as performing mechanical work on the racecar. Jay leads his team of racing professionals in NHRA Top Alcohol Funny Car competition, where they won the 2012 East Region championship and finished the season ranked 11th in national points.

TAFC Driver-Todd VeneyTodd Veney-Driver

Driver Todd Veney won a career-high three races and the Permatex/Follow A Dream team's first championship in 2012, scoring in Richmond, Va., Cecil County, Md., and Bowling Green, Ky., and taking the Eastern U.S. Championship by nearly 50 points. Todd has been racing since 1995, when he formed his own Alcohol Funny Car team and made it to the final round of the IHRA Springnationals in Bristol, Tenn., in his second career start. In 2000, he reached the final round at Memphis in his NHRA debut. From 2004 to 2007, Todd raced with his dad, former world champ Ken Veney, who was voted one of the Top 50 drivers in NHRA history. Since he joined the Permatex/Follow A Dream organization in 2010, the team has finished in the national Top 10 twice and won five races. Todd was born in Hollywood, Calif., in 1965 and grew up in Torrance, Calif., and Wadsworth, Ohio. He graduated from The University of Akron in 1988 with a public-relations degree and is a free-lance writer.

Tuner - Tom HowellTom Howell - Tuner

As the tuner for Follow A Dream, Tom Howell brings 20 plus years experience as a professional technician and crew chief in drag racing. Tom is responsible for all tuning decisions and data analysis of the racecar, and collaborates with Jay on routine service of the car. Tom won a championship with Don Florence Motorsports and crew chiefed for Paul Femino’s Blue Chip IHRA Funny Car. Tom’s experience also includes working with Marc Rowe Race Cars, and serving as crew chief of super modifieds as well as off-shore racing boats. Tom is self- employed through T. Howell Lettering and holds a degree in graphic arts.

President & Treasurer - James C. BlakeJames C. Blake - Vice President & Treasurer

Jim Blake is vice president and treasurer of Follow A Dream. Jim has 28 years of racing experience including multiple top ten finishes in the New England Points Series. In 1987 Jim debuted what would become the World's Quickest Clean Air Dragster, powered by propane. In 1993 Jim was awarded "The Sportsman of the Year Award", by his fellow racers. Jim assists his brother Jay with managing Follow A Dream and is a full-time manager for Eastern Propane & Oil in Danvers, MA.

Lower End Technician-Scott OsbornScott Osborn - Lower End Technician

Scott is owner and operator of Wide Load Custom Metal, an automotive fabrication shop specializing in extensive American car and motorcycle metal work and skilled in servicing all aspects of your collection. Scott graduated with a degree in welding engineering from Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, MA and joined the Follow A Dream Team in 2003.


Clutch-Scott SpencerScott Spencer - Clutch

In his second year as a member of the Follow A Dream Team, Scott will be assisting with the work on the clutch. An automotive technician from Cape Cod, Scott also works reconditioning vehicles. In his spare time Scott enjoys spending time with his family and friends and going to monster truck shows.

Alan Hadfield - Clutch Machinist

Longtime Follow A Dream team member Alan Hadfield brings tenacity and dedication to the vital task of machining all the clutch discs and floaters before each race and often wheels the transporter for the team. He has a background in heavy trucks and heavy equipment and has been a mechanic for the golf industry in the Cape Cod area. When the Jr. Dragster class was first created, he built his son a car called "Cape Codder Jr." (named after his hero Ed Parker's "Cape Codder" Top Alcohol Funny Car), and the two campaigned it at regional events and at the Jr. Dragster Nationals in Maryland.

Ed Parker - Crew Member

Crew Member-Ed ParkerEd is the one guy on the team who could do anyone else’s job-drive the car, build it, tune it, or maintain it. Ed first raced in 1963 and has campaigned numerous cars through the years, the best known of which is the “Cape Codder” Alcohol Funny Car that he currently competes with. Aside from safely transporting Jay’s operation to races and events around the country, he services the car from one end to the other when on the road.

Shawn Enos-Crew Member

From a very young age Shawn has enjoyed tinkering with anything mechanical and learning how things work. Being the new guy on the team, Shawn is learning the ins and outs of the funny car and helping out with machining tools and parts on the lathe & mill. Shawn is employed at Cape Cod Technical High School as a welding instructor and in his free time likes to build and drive 4x4 rock crawlers and design custom parts for xr50ís.

Mark Reardon-Team Member

Mark has had an interest in cars since he was sixteen years old, painting, fixing and building them to go faster. His background includes working as an auto technician for twenty years. Mark also has a passion for music and entertainment and is the owner of Happy Time Productions, a mobile DJ service. Mark enjoys giving back to the community and strongly believes in the Follow A Dream mission. He became a Shriners Clown as a way to showcase his fun personality and to help bring a little sunshine and fun to children whose lives are centered around hospitals and medical treatments. He and his now adult daughter Katie joined the Dream Team in 2004.

Rich Fenwick-Team Member

Rich has fifteen years experience as the owner, engine builder, and driver of his own Alcohol Funny Car in both the NHRA and IHRA divisions, having raced throughout the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico. Rich also has ten years experience in the culinary arts including teaching and owning/operating several eateries. Rich has thirty years experience in new home building and remodeling.
